At several times during the church year we have special services.
Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve we have two services, one at 4 pm for families, at which the children act out the Nativity, and a traditional service of Lessons and Carols at 7 pm. The family service is usually quite lively, while the 7 pm service is more contemplative.
Maundy Thursday
On Maundy Thursday, we have a potluck communal meal in the Gathering Place, and then a remembrance of the Last Supper as we partake together of communion.
Good Friday Service
On Good Friday we hold a Tenebrae service, where we read the seven last words of Jesus and gradually extinguish candles to symbolize his death.
Easter Sunrise Service
On Easter Sunday, brave souls from our church join together at the Penobscot Valley Country Club for a sunrise service, followed by a breakfast in our vestry.
All Saints Day
On November 1, we hold a solemn remembrance service for all those who have died in the preceding year. We speak their names as we light candles in their memory.
